Predicted line-ups, injuries and suspensions

Who is playing? Ninety shows the expected eleven days before a match, crosses out anyone injured or suspended, and swaps in the official team sheet as soon as it lands.

Predicted first, official later

Line-ups are drawn on a pitch with formations and shirt numbers. Days out, they are predictions. About an hour before kick-off the clubs submit their team sheets and Ninety replaces the prediction with the real eleven and the bench, labelled clearly so you always know which one you are looking at.

Absences you can trust

Every match page lists who is missing for each side and why: injury or suspension, with the expected return date where one is known (“Mid November”, “Out for season”). If a predicted starter is on that list, Ninety crosses him out on the pitch so you can see at a glance that someone else will likely play. That cross-check matters because predicted line-ups are often published before the latest injury news.

Context around the team sheet

Line-ups are more useful with context, so the match page also shows:

  • Days of rest for each side since their last match, and where that match was.
  • How far the away side travels.
  • The referee and how many cards and penalties they give compared with the league average.
  • The weather at the stadium at kick-off.

Together they explain a lot of rotation: a side with three days of rest after a long Europa League trip is not going to name its strongest eleven.

Great for fantasy managers

If you play fantasy football, the predicted line-up and the absence list are the two things you check before every deadline. Ninety puts both on one screen, for every match in the round, without making you sign in.

Questions

When are official line-ups confirmed?

Clubs normally submit team sheets about 60 to 75 minutes before kick-off. Ninety updates within minutes of them being published.

Where do predicted line-ups come from?

From public football data feeds that model expected starting elevens, cross-checked by Ninety against the latest injury and suspension list.

Does Ninety show a player’s return date?

Yes, where one has been reported: either a rough date such as “Late October” or “Out for season”.
