Tables, top scorers, xG and team stats

Numbers that explain the table: expected goals, expected points, team ratings and leaders in every stat, alongside the standings and match-by-match stats.

League tables with context

Every league table shows played, won, drawn, lost, goal difference and points, with the qualification and relegation places shaded. Tap a club to open its page. If a recent result would be revealed by the table, it stays covered until you choose to see it.

Is it luck or form?

Club pages show expected goals for and against and expected points: what a club’s chances were worth on average, compared with what it actually scored and earned. A club two places above its expected points is probably due a correction; one well below may be better than its position suggests.

Leaders in every stat

Competition pages rank the top players for goals, assists, rating, expected goals and clean sheets. Club pages show squad ratings and where the team ranks in the league for goals scored, conceded and more. Ninety cross-checks squad appearances between two data sources and flags any disagreement.

Match stats

During and after a match: possession, shots, shots on target, corners, fouls and cards, plus expected goals where available. All of it hides along with the score while you are avoiding the result.

Questions

What is expected goals (xG)?

A measure of chance quality: each shot is given the probability that an average player scores it from that position and situation. Adding them up gives the goals a team would expect to score.

What are expected points?

The points a team would expect from its matches given the xG of both sides. Comparing them with real points shows over- or under-performance.
